Rabbi Kris wasn’t born into Judaism. She chose to become a Jew and converted in 1997. Kris lives at the intersection of Catholic and Jewish spirituality – marrying two conceptual and cultural beliefs concerning moral agency, the divine and social justice.
Due to the wonders of DNA and a dogged sense of self-discovery, Kris found her birth family (Jewish) and her ethnic lineage. Yes, there is Italian but her ethnicity is not only European ( Italian/Irish)but Middle Eastern-owing to deep roots and ancestry in Syria and Lebanon. Perhaps this explains her love of and work for peace in Israel/Palestine- and Northern Ireland.
Kris is married to her beloved wife, Nan and mother to a daughter Tammara and to her four legged children Toby, Chloe and Sadie. She currently lives in Woodstock NY, after returning to the Nation, and is the proud founding partner of the law firm of Miccio McDaniel & Pelosi LLC (NY&IE).
Kris McDaniel-Miccio graduated from JSLI’s first rabbinic class, has taught on faculty at JSLI and authored the JSLI Ethics Code with Rabbi Debbie Reichmann.
