JSLI Master Classes are online classes on focused Jewish topics, taught by guest rabbis and experts in their fields. They’re free for JSLI Rabbinical and Cantorial School students and alumni. They aren’t required, but we highly recommend them as continuing education that goes deeper than the core curriculum.
What they cover
Master Classes have included lifecycle officiation (Jewish and interfaith weddings, funerals, b’nai mitzvah and baby namings) and Jewish pastoral care, taught by members of our faculty such as Rabbi Monte Sugarman and Rabbi Rosalie Osian. Cantorial students join the lifecycle Master Classes as part of their program.
What to expect
Each Master Class runs 60 to 90 minutes on Zoom. Some teachers lecture, and others build the class around discussion and participation. Classes are scheduled as they come up during the fall and spring semesters, and we let current students and alumni know when a new one is coming up.
